This pressing is magnificent. Its mastering is crystal clear and the mid-range, low end heft and airy vocals simply elevate a mastful album by an enduring band. I am very impressed with this album, and must say it would be a charm if all Stereolab records were treated with such loving analog magic. This album is the last album to feature Mary Hansen, and it is a fitting farewell to the band in the configuration that housed Mary and her sonic blessings within the bands musical fractal.

Indeed it sounds terrific, and the longer mixes, especially the gorgeous piano-driven intro to "Gus the Mynah Bird" make it a true hidden gem. IMO this is their last truly great release (and was actually better than their previous couple). The arrangements on this one are just beautiful. The cover image (from a foreign poster for Polanski's "Cul-de-sac") is a clue to the contents. If you like Krzysztof Komeda and other great European film composers of the late 60s- early 70s this is pure ear candy.
