According to the label this US version is a mispress. It's just the 2008 master pressed on clear vinyl. Email the label [email protected] with proof of purchase to get a replacement copy

Exactly, that's the problem. They pressed the 2008 master to clear vinyl instead of the new 2018 master

It seems I have the 2008 version, black vinyl. One thing is still confusing me: my presumed 2008 version has the same matrix/runout info as this release: Matrix / Runout (Side A, stamped): PURE19 155035E1/A

From what I understand, the clear vinyl reissue was supposed to be a remastered version. However in the US the label accidentally pressed the old master to clear vinyl instead of using the new remaster. The black vinyl is from 2008 and therefore uses the old master as it was supposed to

I reached out to the label and would like to clarify that, according to them, the issue only affects this clear vinyl edition of the US pressing, which should have a sticker on the front (I assume saying that it is the clear vinyl version). My copy is on black vinyl, no sticker, otherwise corresponds to this entry (for example, no remastering credit listed on the back, same matrix no.). The label says there is no issue with that black vinyl US pressing. Btw, how is this a "US pressing"? The label themselves referred to this as the "US pressing" in their e-mail to me, but I am not sure how this is a "US" and not "UK" version.

Mine looks and sounds good. New pressings are a bit of a crapshoot, but I feel like if the potential for imperfection bothers you vinyl might not be the right format.

I'm so tired of buying new records only to find that they're pressed off-center. I thought this series of Stereolab reissues would be safe, but apparently not. Side 2 in particular an off-center mess. Hopefully can get a replacement.

Another note for Lab fans. The cover to this release is an almost exact replica of the Vanguard "Stereolab" release #SRV-114SD, a classical recording by Vladimir Golschmann and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. The colours were changed but the type, the layout, even the waveforms, are an exact copy.

More retro-electronica from the 'Lab, with "Ronco Symphony" and the two(!) title tracks the stand-outs. An interesting note for obscurity fanatics is that the design which appears on the label of side two is actually the logo of the 1960s record label that Stereolab "borrowed" their name from. Incidentally, there are not one but TWO deliberate spelling mistakes in the album title: everyone picks up on "Groop" for "Group" but rather fewer people notice the extra T in "Batchelor" (sic).
