Alpha - Stargazing (Special Edition) mp3 album

After their disappointing The Impossible Thrill album, Alpha returns to the sound that made Come From Heaven a classic. Stargazing is a return to form, with tight song structures and blissful production values. Their favorite three vocalists return, this time joined by newcomer Kelvin Swaybe, who adds a soulful timbre to “Elvis.” While all the vocal tracks are outstanding, the instrumental tracks aren’t as polished as they were on The Impossible Thrill. But that’s not necessarily surprising; “Horseshit” was one of the very first tracks that Alpha released (under the name Ariel). As always, Wendy Stubbs’ vocals are the highlights: “Silver Light” is a slowburning torch song for evenings by the fireplace; “Once Round Town” is for skipping hand-in-hand through the park. Helen White also performs beautifully for “Blue Autumn,” a post-breakup song if there ever was one. Stargazing will have dreamy-eyed romantics staring up into the heavens for years to come.
