ME
Does this pressing have the exact etchings as the original EU-pressing or did they add some additional details like the repress of The Main Ingredient? Clarification would be much appreciated!
DEAD-SHOT
What you probably want to look for is the Herbie Jr. signature in the run-out of the US Pressing.Everything Herb Powers touched was gold. The database has been getting more precise with the all important matrix information recently. A good development, many Herb Powers masters are not recognised at this point. This LP in my opinion is certainly a defining piece of art. Quintessential 90s Hip Hop which was truely influencial to many producers that came later and is still a very solid listen.Well, Pete Rock learned his trade from a real master: Marley Marl.

This came out before the commerial one, because i waited and waited for the release and was told by London import shops that it might only see C.D release, so i bought this copy. The other version come out months later.
Broadcaster
This is the first vinyl version of the album that features the actual Mecca And The Soul Brother Remix off the promo 12". All Previous versions included the EP Version that was mislabled as Remix.
Qumen
Yeah, I had a tape copy back in the day with the bonus remixes, and "Mecca" was definitely the one from the EP. I figured All Souled Out had the "WIg Out Mix" that I had heard in the video, so I was really confused/disappointed when it was the same version as on my Mecca tape."The Creator (Remix)" WAS actually the remix, so at least they had gotten that right.
Cel
I was only refering to the Mecca And The Soul Brother Remix. The Creator is the same mix on all versions of the vinyl album.
TheFresh
Wow. All this time I thought The Creator and Mecca and The Soul Brother were really remixes. But they're the same as the songs from the EP for real??

Silvermaster
Without question, one of the 20 greatest hip hop albums of all time. Period.
Peles
One of the greatest albums from 1992 and in Hip Hop history, repackaged in an essential deluxe edition, 2 CD's, a 20 page booklet and a poster. love it.
Kaim
This is arguably one of the finest Hip Hop albums of the early 90s and still one of my all time favorites. Though I've never heard a Pete Rock song I didn't like, almost each of the 16 tracks on "Mecca And The Soul Brother" is simply oustanding. Songs like "Straighten it out", "Soul Brother #1" and "It's like that" have everything that I'm missing so desperately in most recent Rap acts: deep basslines, beefy old school beats, convincing lyrics and a lot of soul. That, and the fact that "They Reminisce Over You" is simply one of the best rap anthems ever, is why I'd highly recommend this album. If you don't have it, go get it!
