Dictaphone returns with more of their abstract compositions on VERTIGO II, which starts with the woozy tinkling jazz of "Rising Minimal," while "Night Rain" introduces some spoken samples to aid the general feeling of weightlessness. The brief "Jarszewko" brings in some classical strings, but Roger Döring's clarinet and saxophone gets much more focus over the course of the album, from its moody tones on "The Last Song" to the chorus that toot through "Ytinav." But the cinematic swell of "The Frame (1-94-1)" or the post-rock drive of "Le Chasseur (Danke)" help vary the mood. "Pol/Bruxelles" brings the album down on a solo bass and some assorted sounds. A quiet, meditative album.

This is is an awesome release, from a brilliant duo. Music is adorable. Beautiful and meditative.Oh, I'd say all their releases, which regrettably aren't many, are really good. This one is just my favorite.
