This is the 3rd edition in this legendary Post-Punk Series and continues the same high standard.by 1981 the Clash were basically a Post-Punk/Punk Funk band (especially live- Check out the Amsterdam 81 gig) so its good to hear Magnificent 7 in its rightful context with Gang of 4 etc.among other treasures are an early Section 25 track before electronics dominated their sound- they sound like an up tempo PiL here.we could debate whether Kraftwerk belong here, while a seminal influence on Post-Punk they clearly pre-date it, but whatever.. Its always good to hear them. the Poesie Noire track cuts off suddenly, this is not a fault with the cd.The Gang of Four's what we all want is presented here in its studio version, much harder even more menacing than the version released as an EP and used on their greatest hits package.I buy these comps partly to hear stuff i know and partly to discover new bands from this amazing period. for me the major discoveries on this cd are T C Matic (Punk Funk!) and C-Cat Trance- amazing Dark world music/funk hybrid created by the former members of Medium Medium.
