Have been in love with this album since I first got the cd back in the mid-90s. Maybe the best trance album ever made.

I bought the album when it came out in '94 and i still get the same brilliant feeling listening to it in 2018...that's years 24 later.... what more needs to be said?

Yes I agree with all reviewer's here I do like all these tracks in a meditative state with and after yoga or a workout - My Name is God, Aton and Sun are delicious !

After his debut as Spicelab, Oliver Lieb decided to try his hand at tribal techno with THE AMBUSH. And after an ambient visit to Africa, "Rain" segues into the beats for a deeper track, while "Cassablanca" is more spacy and has a nice, gradual build, though it's not particularly Moroccan in any way. "My Name is God" adds a touch more energy with its more bouncy melodic line, though the vocal samples enter to help maintain an organic feel to the track, while "Terra" returns to the ambiance, buoyed by some live drumming from Harald Grosskopf. The drum frenzy grows on 'Jungle Fever" but the longer hypnotic experience of "Sun" closes the album on a more sedate note with Native American chants before the beats kick in to drive things home. A nice change of pace for Mr. Lieb.
Delirium
Some serious Tribal Beats & Percussion is at work in "My Name Is God". This track is unlike most oliver lieb productions of the time. Turn it up and you may feel god coming down any second.

Style: Trance, Tribal, Ambient... My favourite styles! I like this album so much. Its atmosphere is so deep, hypnotic, meditative and natural. Elements of sound used in the album are very beautiful and mellow. Sounds of the African tribes injected into ecstasy and serenity at the same time. It is one of the strongest production by Oliver Lieb, and one of my favourite album ever.

It is crazy to think that this music came out in 94, and most of the stuff Oliver Lieb and others were putting out then. Being born in the 90s i was not able to experience it the way others have, but listening to it now, and comparing it to what is popular now, this really seems to me like a timeless album. Not necessarilly an album to use in a club, (that's what Spicelab is for, and it's just as great in it's own right) but for casual and maybe exotic party listening. A VERY good listen. 5 out of 5 stars!

Good on you mate, good to hear someone who was born in the 90's waxing lyrical about this album.i completely agree with your comments!

My name is god. I feel like I control all the chakra in the world through the use of rushes brought on by electronic drum beats and electrified chants which are actually synth pads. The emphasis, I presume, is to modify roland presets to where they sound live and tribal. Considering that, the production is nearly unbelievable. It is a concept which does not work in clubland, and melodies are not the focus, but RIYL beltram's aonox, plastikman's consumed, or eno's apollo.
