That beat reminds me of Octagon Man- Demented Spirit***... ;)..I never heard Rusty Egan Presents Shock (2) ‎– R.E.R.B. before but I really really like it!.... Spacey tribal hypnotic and intoxicating and it's from 1980!!!;)...***Ps to some people what I stated may sound a little obvious but then again us vinyl music freaks are always getting educated no matter what age we are... Im in my 40s but this tune has made me feel like 14 when I got into Electro... ;) https://www.discogs.com/The-Octagon-Man-The-Demented-Spirit/master/15114 ... P.s. I take it R.E.R.B. is the initials of Rusty Egan/Richard Burgess.

Such a fantastic 12" and certainly a landmark by which modern electronic dance music can beput into perspective due to the stellar production qualities it has. Just wish there was some wayto determine which version was the first to be released.

"R.E.R.B." is a quite dramatic, tense and beautiful piece of advanced electro-flavoured synth-pop, with metronomic hypnotic qualities (the heavy beatbox kick makes it still relevant on techno and house dancefloors to this day), and opulent melodic arrangements, like a more club-oriented offshoot to Yello or The Sparks' moroderian period. One of those early-80s UFOs that have definitely stood the test of time.

Can any owners of this verify if the mix differs from the 7"? I have the 7". The 12" is always costly and I'd only be willing to pay a lot for this if it were an extended remix, since this is one of my favorite pieces of electro-trash.

The 12" is different than than the 45rpm. A must own mix. Still sounds as good today as the time it was released.
Riavay
Yes, it's extended! (and great!):)
Cerekelv
The answer to your question is YES. Get it now it's brilliant.

I've got a rip of an extended version that is 6:26 and has a cat# of RCA (RCAT 014a) attached.
