Used to rinse this sh*t at the turn of the century! Purification is on a recording of a set I did at a warehouse party on 31/12/99!

Jesus almighty, this has got be my favorite 12" by Regis - ever! From the short intro, where we hear a woman weep in agony as though she was shackled in chains neck to toe in a solitary some 30 feet below sea level. Humidity, grey walls and tearing the paint off with her finger nails... Baptism and Purification are some of the most hard, intense and devastating tracks Karl has crafted, and he has recorded heaps of great music during his career. The first hits you right off with heavy as 400 ton bulldozer ground strike percussion, a deep and barking bass line with a short snippet of a female voice used as the lead hook entering some minutes into the track. Completely outrageous, the music just rolls over your body as though it was a welcome mat. Purification continues exactly where Baptism stopped - a female voice in the function of a hook and a dominant bass line with tremendous drum rolls. By the time you reach this one, the woman so eager to flee her prison I mentioned in Rise must have already swollowed her tongue and stuffed her ears with hair she'd previously tore off her head. On the wheel is a fabulous outro, a beatless dark little piece just coming out of nowhere and fading out where it came from. Eerie, disturbing, meaning it's the only adequate way to put an end to this release. Pure power, this is, I tell you. As fantastic of an example of the true Birmingham sound as any you will ever come across. In your face, relentless, claustrophobic, hard and dark. Period. I give it my highest possible recommendation and four obese thumbs up!
