THOMAS
It seems to be the only Jazz Rock record in Romanian music. The famous composer Marius Popp works especially in Jazz, but "Panoramic Jazz Rock" is his interesting "one foot in rock" expirience. The album has the same feeling like Chick Corea's "The Leprechaun" album: these albums are interesting both for Jazz and Prog Rock lovers. Marius played various curious improvisations with lavish orchestration from typical Jazz to Funky instrumentals. But the main opus on the album is the long "Inscription" suite, composed by Adrian Enescu, with strong innovative and progressive driving, unusual synthesized effects, dramatic feeling and little improvisation. Popp invited the members of the famous Romanian Prog Rock band "Sfinx" and their leader Dan Andrei Albea collaborated in the record of this track. I should mention Aurora Andronache who made the only voice solo on the album for this track too. The last instrumental "Crestături In Lemn" demonstates one of the most memorable Popp's solo efforts without backing group.
