People always look at me strangely when I say that this LP is tied with Apocalypse 91 for my favorite hip hop album of all time. Riiiight before the heavy crackdown on sampling and the ensuing lawsuits, it's odd that my favorite album contains one of my LEAST favorite singles of all time (pop goes the weasel). If u never heard any of the tunes except Weasel, or if it hasn't graced ur eardrums in decades, give this one another listen, if for nothing other than the str8 sample MASTERY Prince Paul landscaped.
Kendis
This is a fantastic sophomore effort by the underrated trio. Most people will likely remember "Pop Goes The Weasel" for their slam on Vanilla Ice (and Hammer, again) - how ironic that it was perhaps their most popular hit and that it sampled Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer". List of major samples: Track 1 samples Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' "D's Dilemma", Eddie Harris' "Get Down With It", The Meters' "Message From The Meters", Rose Royce's "Daddy Rich"; 2 samples 9th Creation's "Bubble Gum" and "Rule of Mind", Charles Mingus' "Hog Callin' Blues"; 5 samples Rhythm Heritage's "Theme From S.W.A.T."; 6 and 22 sample Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer", The J.B.'s "Damn Right, I Am Somebody", The Who's Eminence Front", and Stevie Wonder's "You Havent'd Done Nothin'"; 8 samples Solomon Burke's "Get Out Of My Life, Woman", Freddie King's "I'd Rather Be Blind", and Rose Royce's "Daddy Rich"; 10 samples Timmy Thomas' "Funky Me"; 11 samples Dave Brubeck's "Take Five"; 12 samples Gary Bartz's "I've Known Rivers"; 13 samples Hot Chocolate's "Disco Moore" and Wings' "Let 'Em In"; 14 samples Funk Inc.'s "Chicken Lickin'" and Steely Dan's "FM"; 16 samples Al Green's "All Because"; 17 samples B.T. Express' "Happiness", Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla", and Indeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life"; 18 samples The Beatles' "I Am The Walrus" and The Wild Magnolias' "Corey Died on the Battlefield"; 19 samples Herbie Mann's "Memphis Underground"; 20 samples The Cannonball Adderley Quintet's "Hummin'" along with dialogue from the TV show, "All In The Family".
Ochach
Track 1 also samples from The Zombies "I Could Spend The Day", it's the main backing loop from 0:16-0:33.

Can you have a look at the US 2xLP pressing sub and let me know which written-by credit goes with which sample? There are a few that I haven't figured out fully. Thanks! :)
