First, the bad news: the "Graduation Rap" and "Pickin' Cotton Blues" parodies were cute in the movie, but were deliberately awful and just waste space here. Similarly, the Vince Giordano songs are new covers which miss their marks by a mile, sounding quite incongruous alongside the authentic early blues and other rare American folk recordings that dominate the rest of the soundtrack. Now the good news: The album's real highlights mirror those of the film: Skip James's original, haunting recording of "Devil Got My Woman" from 1931 is here, plus the bookends "Jaan Pehechaan Ho" (from a 1965 Bollywood flick) and David Kitay's piano theme from the film's third act. The handful of remaining tracks, culled from Daniel Clowes' own collection of 78s, weren't in the film, but are quality, somewhat atypical examples of their genres, and make this album worth paying for.

I agree 100% with mjb. I deleted the Graduation Rap because it's like nails on the chalkboard to my ears.
