They guy was part of the hexagon sun outfit..I'd say he probably influenced Boards of Canada rather than the other way round.Love his stuff very atmospheric full of texture.Does not age either. He has a new album out of old material http://christmusic.bandcamp.com/album/curio-volume-2

I knew Chris personally from back in Edinburgh in the 90's...lived with him for a bit in Leith. At that time around 93/94 he and the boards brothers were def in a band together and released twosim under boards of Canada together. You can hear Chris throughout that ep, and his influence was great on the formation of the Boards sound. On the original release of twoism, his name was actually credited.

When I first heard of Christ I thought of a BoC clone like the many that have been popping up since Music Has The Rights To Children. But he’s not. He has an indescribable style matched by no one, and you can hear it on Pylonesque. The best description of Pylonesque is haunting. Even Christ’s most playful melodies sound dark and menacing. It’s probably his most accessible too. Not too leftfield, more down to earth but less organic than Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle. Classic release full of superb melody and ambient beats not to be forgotten.

The title track on this ep is so gorgeous! It does have that bucolic BOC analogue sound but it also has some unique twists and in places reminds me of bits of 'Claro' by Brothomstates. Makes me proud to be Scottish!

Cut from the same cloth as Boards of Canada, Christ manages to mine the same territory without seeming to borrow too heavily from the better known BOC sound. The sound similaties are perhaps understandable given that Christ has also worked with BOC in the past, and has a writing credit on the BOC recording "Twoism." Fans of the genre will find much to enjoy in "Pylonesque."
