Porter Robinson has done something truly unique with this album. In stead of taking the road to fame by continuing to produce the bigroom hands up music, he decided to take a step back and create an album with music that feels more real to him. And after years of working on it, his efforts payed off. No limitations, no boundaries: this album is EDM in its purest and freshest form. It's innovative in pretty much every way. From catchy Japanese pop like Flicker to industrial-ish elements in Fellow Feeling, and from incredibly atmospheric IDM in Sea Of Voices to original hit tunes like Sad Machine and Lionhearted: every song uses elements from multiple genres, but at the same time has unique aspects in it that just haven't been done by an artist like this before. Hopefully this daring move of Porter sets an example for lots of producers out there: writing tracks without having the restraint of 'making it catchy for the crowd' on you will make you create something more, way more unique. I'm sure when we'll look back in five or ten years to this album, we can safely say 'Wow, Mr. Robinson sure started a trend with this 'Worlds' album, didn't he?'.
