Wooden Purple Romeo
Ready to explode. New sounds - molded in Seattle during the 80s - were completely mature at the beginning of the new decade. Soundgarden - founders of the heavy side of Seattle sounds - released their explosive bomb in the autumn of 1991, shortly after Nirvana and Pearl Jam ones. Badmotorfinger is not so easy listening as Nevermind or Ten, and its impact was not so impetuous as Nevermind one, but its colossal riffing, undulating psychedelic melodies and Cornell vocal power rewrited rock history as much as others Seattle masterpieces did. A reinterpretation of psychedelic hard rock of the 70s, filtered through independent noise rock: the result is mighty, slowed and dilated as doom metal is, but supple and in constant motion, thanks to the new bass player (Ben Shepherd) too. A fundamental step in heavy psych evolution.
