Notes
From the liner notes:AFTER an enjoyable visit, it is customary to send your hose a "bread and butter letter" thanking him for his hospitality. A Mis Amigos is Nat King Cole's charming and completely suitable "bread and butter letter" to the myriad friends who welcomed him during his recent tour of the Latin American countries. It expresses Nat's heartfelt appreciation of the enthusiastic greeting he received wherever he went.
These Latin favorites were recorded during the tour with fine orchestras under the baton of Capitol's Dave Cavanaugh, who also wrote the arrangements.A rid, although Nat sings them in Spanish and Portuguese, his incomparable style transcends all language harriers. In any language it is easy to recognize the sincere performance of a consummate artist.
To My Friends is an apt title for a Nat King Cole album. VVherever he goes, his universal acceptance has made him one of this country's foremost Good Will Ambassadors. That this tour was a resounding success is attested to by the fact that in each country Nat was in danger of being crushed by the admiring throngs. In Brazil he was invited to sing at the formal opening of Rio de Janeiro's new opera house and was later entertained by that country's President. Each of his many performances met with an overwhelming response.
Nat brings to these songs the same wealth of feeling, the same warm, easy manner that Cole admirers in the United States are used to hear-ing in his American hits. And many fans will also recall some other fine Spanish vocals by Nat, as heard in his recent album, "Cole Español!." His style is certainly one of universal appeal, as he proves once again in these magnificent performances.
