Aw yes, just when you thought you had enough dirt on Eric Prydz to smudge his name - be honest, "Opus" was a gargantuan let down for anyone who's heard two records of his - there he comes again. Releasing on wax too. You have to hand it to him. When it comes to striking a balance between darkended basements and Guetta following zit heads, few appeal to both to such an extent. Hot on the heels of the unfortunately presumptuous sophomore album, he goes back to basics, to his most interesting and worth while moniker, Cirez D.Not really a reinvnetion of the wheel, these are purist techno efforts. Restrained, reduced, refined and repetitive. Highly repetitive. Head nodding hours to end. Both tunes, with the emphasis landing on the title track, are echo-drenched, percussion laden beasts that will torch dance floors, no questions asked. I'd opt for In The Reds, which is a perfeclty pitched minimal banger. You get your dose of those typical Pryda build-ups / breakdowns that'll get the festival crowds shake those glow sticks, yet it has the bassy grit that'll convince adamant nay-sayers to nod their head in approval as well. I will be cheeky enough and say that this is the most straight forward techno cut of his since On Off, and those are heavy words. Chose not to believe, but behold of the surmounting kicks, and their clinical execution. Cannot wait to hear this through a pair of towering Funktion One's!Century of The Mouse strikes with a techier vibe, but still boasts a greased up bass line enabling it to sneak in plenty a sets. Marching, rolling drums announce wall to wall eruptions of darkened sounds, and it all blazes up around the four minute mark, when menacing slabs are ejected to the front by cavernouns beats and ground shaking bass response. It might be a tad too all over the place compared to the linear focus of the A side, but this is yet another sensational manifest of clanging techno by someone who usually collects his respect coins elsewhere.Let's not get confused here: it's not the new Surgeon or Steve Stoll record, but once again Eric Prydz effortlessly shows just what a versatile producer he is. Many have said it before, and I will say it again: do not by any means write this man off as that dude who made a dance version of Pink Floyd. This is a tight techno two tracker you ought to have.

Great record. Its nice to see Eric releasing on vinyl again. Comes with a nice glossy red/black Mouseville sleeve as pictured on discogs. Order on Juno before they sell out!
