The sample "The ultimate aim, is to produce a sound which is completely acceptable to the listener" is taken from the Decca "How To Give Yourself A Stereo Checkout" test record.https://youtu.be/pd6uUmPuzKc

Have 2 copies of this, got them for a pound. The 2 bad mice mix is overplayed, but is arguably the better track.

Anyone familiar with this issue. My copy is just the Blim Remix and Kaotic Chemistry which looks like part 2 of this 2x set. Was I just sold the part 2 only or was there a promo white label going around that isn't listed here exclusively? I was trying to find my copy but only see this 2part which I don't have that other piece or packaging for. Thanks
Olwado
I've just got the same, gonna raise a dispute as it was listed as 2x12" and I only got one
Anararius
Anyone know if there were some miss-pressings of this? It's just I've owned about 4 copies (all from the same lot) & all have been scratched in the same place but the vinyl appears fine. Just a coincidence or are all white labels of this scratched?
Fek
Found this in VG+ condition for £1.00 at a record fair today... well worth digging through all the commercial 80s pop/rock dross to find it :)
tref
This is my favourite record of all time, the two bad mice remix, that is.

there is some very informative info i didn't know about hear, its brilliant to read, i also have a copy of the illegal seal version as well as other versions, mine is white with cat no/ scratched out. i've had it for a long time now. so must of been a early bootleg. classic tune. my favourite release is the mix with ( drop it ) vocals on the intro, brilliant for fader work.

unless you can pick this up cheaply & just for home listening stay well clear. the sound quality is shocking & sounds like it was recorded under water, is too bassy with hardly any mids or hi's at a really low volume
Shakataxe
Pressed in the early 2000's and if memory serves me right it was pressed from the original metal masters.
Qusicam
what makes it for this track, is the lyrics, DROP IT, brilliant for mixing, use the fader giving it the DROP IT, gives me a rush every time, one of the best old skool 92 tunes that there was. all versions are mint, including the one with seal over top of it, music takes you round and round and round.
Spilberg
Drop it !!!!!!!!!

Did you know http://www.discogs.com/Blame-Music-Takes-You-Seal-Version/release/2093248 is the very first release of this and due to it's popularity this was pressed (the version page you are on now) and after the normal illegal sampling was done. As was and is the norm in the underground scene. To avoid legal/financial issues the commercial version was made and left everyone that got it in dismay, as it just was not the tune they heard and searched everywhere for! Anyway yet another release was made (the beige one) and unfortunately for most people, others in the know had already took them! So most people were plain SOL and had to wait for a copy to turn up or get a bootleg years later. Did you know that a mint copy of the original white sold for £1,500,00! (Not long before the bootlegs turned up). That makes the original of this the most expensive hardcore record ever! Atleast to my knowledge anyway. That's all folks! :-D

These copies here http://www.discogs.com/Blame-Music-Takes-You-Seal-Version/release/2093248 are actually the first ones made.
Kulabandis
top oldskool tune, brings back such good times, top moving shadow. BYE IT IF TOU SEE IT!!!
Kagaramar
seal version is also on a red sleeved release, later pressed without the sample, just like trip to the moon and 'the doors' sample. Early versions had the vocals and later pressing had it removed.
blodrayne
:correcting myself:Acen had ]the doors' sample removed and 'Trip to the Moon' had the Shirley Bassey/James Bond loop removed. (It had to be made from scratch or summat.)

Music Takes You took 4 hours to make and cost £30 for the studio time. Equipment used was a Casio sampler, a Juno 106 synth, an Atari ST and a Soundcraft mixing desk. All the samples were taken off cassette versions of the originals, and as a results the samples were very hissy. Rob Playford wanted it re-done properly and contacted Seal for the use of the sample. Seal actually wanted to sing on the track but his record label vetoed it and stopped the use of the sample.

In 1992, right in the middle of all the commotion of the aftermath that the demise of my "native state" GDR left behind, a DJ set was spun on our then in dire straits youth radio station DT64. I'm fairly sure it was Marusha who had just moved to Berlin and dropped a load of Breakbeat Belters on our ears like The Scientist's Exorcist and Ecstacy Takes You from this EP. On NO occation was there any annoucement what tune was played when, and for 20 years I've been sitting on a lousy tape recording of a fraction of that DJ set, trying to track down these tunes. Never again did I hear it in another set in all those years. Those tunes -- especially the hilariously mental Ecstacy Takes You -- introduced Hardcore to me and it never let me go
GoodBuyMyFriends
Yeah, it was Marusha and she played it also on the live broadcasting of DT64 out of some club in Halle with DJ Dick.
MrRipper
totally rad just for the old mixes, i never listen to either of the new mixes, but thats just me you might like the other sides. either way its worth it for the old mixes... really cheap to pick up. also, to my knowledge this is to be played at 45 on all sides aside from side Y which is the 2 bad mice remix which should be at 33. at least on my copy
Grotilar
Actually that "Drop It" sample is on the 2 Bad Mice remix. May have been on the promo, pulled from the official release due to clearance, and re-featured on the remixes later when they did get clearance. Not sure, only Mr Blame or Rob Playford could tell you that.

This version does not contain the seal vocal!!!.The seal vocal was only present on the promo release and as cow said it was pulled for copyright reasons. But this is still a classic oldskool hardcore anthem. And even without the seal vocal it's still a top tune, with awesome breakbeats and good vocal samples.
Hi_Jacker
The version with the Seal vocals had to be pulled for copyright violation and now sells for good money.
Jaberini
full on rave classic, with vocals sounding very reminiscent of Black Box and (i'm sure) a bit of Seal for the intro??? "Kick it" the sample says, and we certainly did, this was early 90s rave at its best. Great jungle beat, with vocals that got your heart pounding and your feet stompin. All the DJs had it in their set, top marks to Top Buzz who used to open their set with a slightly slowed down version which did the trick. A treasured 12" in my collection.
allegro
"The music takes you round and round", I've got a feeling this was sampled from a tune called 'hold on to love', but I cant remember the artist. Anthemic early 90 hardcore, real floor filler at the time. Remixes are much of the same. Still a classic. Z.
Ballalune
Blim manages to remix a hardcore tune without sounding cheesy. (John B doesn't but it's still pretty good!) Plus you get the hard to find original remixes. Bargain!
