Throw her heart
Sarah Borges was featured on Public Radio East's "The Sound." Somehow, this was the disc I found of hers, even though it's over a decade since its release. It wears well. The band smokes and the CD rocks from start to finish with the detour of "Pious Proud" which slows the pace a bit and shows a different vocal quality for Borges as a singer. The opener "All This Weight" is a strong track that rocks and slows with Rob Dulaney's cracking drums an essential component for this hard rocking sound, "It looks like time is the boss around here, Good things come to those who can wait; Seems like sometimes I get lost down here." I think my favorite track is the one with blues overtones, "I'm Going to Live the Life I Sing About in My Song." The CD bursts with other strong tracks like "Daniel Lee" and the boogie rock closer "Streetwise Man." As a singer, by using her lower register on the rock songs, her vocals seem slightly limited in expressiveness to me. But she does have the chops. Enjoy!
