The French Dead Dude in the phantom car is known for his epic 1980's inspired themes, but this track: "Nightcall" - is the jewel on the crown. Slower than most of his other dance tracks, this one chugs along more in the tradition of gothic italo disco and darker-tinged 1980's synthpop. There used to be a series of beautifully animated short story videos to accompany his iconic tracks, Nightcall included : but I've noticed they 're hard to find online now not sure why. They are absolutely worth checking out as they elaborate on his alluring mysterious Dead Dude persona. Everything is top notch on this track, especially the lyrics, alluding to what appears to be (brilliantly not so directly though) a phone call from the dead to a living female love interest.

I ain't a big electro fan, but definitely dig this one. First met it somewhere around 2010, gave the songs a few tries, and after a while I realized how fucking awesome and essential this release is when it comes to french electro. It even had a vinyl repress this year, and this says a lot in 2012, when most tracks are released digitally. And, as said above, Nightcall is the opening theme of "Drive", which is 2 steps away from becoming a cult film. It made this track very, very popular, at least in Europe. The remixes are also liked by the mass, but for me, the real deal is side A, without a doubt.
