For their second album, Mint Royale travel to DANCEHALL PLACES, starting with a visit, right off the bat, with "Blue Song," which lifts a vocal riff straight from the Delta. "The Sexiest Man in Jamaica" comes as a joyful pop confection with little Jamaican content, but with a catchy house rhythm, while "Anything" dives right into the disco (which recurs, unsurprisingly, on "54") and "Floor Basics" into the electro-funk. But the title track takes a gentler, folksy turn, letting "Miles And Miles" continues the blissful vibe all the way into "Princess." But the energy gets going again with the feel-good rap of "Show Me," until "Always Welcome" closes out the album on some easy-listening smoothness. A fun album, which is sometimes all you could ever want.
