This is exactly what I've been hoping to hear from AE for the last 8 years or so... Such a wonderful ambient (section of an) album... so full of emotion and 'all end' completely takes me away to another world. Listening to it while laying in bed or when going on my nightly walks - totally immersive experience. I hope we get to hear this side of Autechre more in the future!

Two hours (give or take) with the last half taken up by the Rothkoesque, dense, barrier of sound that is 'all end'. Believe me there is detail here, plus that odd effect when you stare too long at something and get that 'crawling' effect (but auditory obviously!) Before that are four tracks that move from frozen to liquid ambience with added embellishments to lift them clear of anything remotely 'human scaled'. We are adrift in some exo-sphere, normal notions of orientation are sidestepped. A cool ending to the session material.

....and then there was 4.I feel the last of the quad sessions is for the masochistic Ae fans especially with its ending. The faint introduction of "frane casual" (oddly of their past several bodies of work, songs ending in 'casual' really appeal to my ears) coming in, with its rinse and wash mechanics after the listener has heard all of Session 4 they will probably feel like "frane casual" is a wash cycle song rinsing the listeners palatte for the ambience to come later after the cacophony of Session 3. Session 4 is not quite a favorite of mine, but it is probably more important than the others for it covering new ground from the duo starting with "mirrage" which should be in someones existential sci-fi film please! This is most certainly a different Autechre and its pretty too! Okay enough about that track...my fave off this session goes to..."Column Thirteen", i kinda have no particular words for it, other than thank goodness its 17 mins long, its got this odd futuristic advertisement jingle feel to it with slight non intrusive eerie strings playing in the back end. It's delicious i'll say! "shimripl casual" is more fragile sci-fi tinkering, very aquatic with some soothing elements reminding you of Amber, and then it ends with the sprawling "all end" which to me sounds like a parade of all the world's synths being cued together for one last horrah! Its not bad, but it being 58 mins long takes away from what the listener may want to put up with with whatever Autechre were trying to convey.
