I nearly missed this release and the beautiful remix on it when it first came out. I managed to pick this up on a trip to New York at one of the best shops there, Dope Jams. They still had a copy in stock, it was the last one and it was mine. I remember first reading what the people over at Bleep43 in England said "there’s a charm to his music that will stand the test of time. As much as a lot of dub techno bores me to death, I can’t get away from the subtle charisma of the Intrusion remix." They took the words right out of my mouth.

A great effort from Stephen Hitchell with his remix of In My Dreams on the B2. The greatness in this remix comes from the beautiful melody which sleeps in the background of the track. It has the same effect on me that some Gas records do which is that my ear always wants to be closer to the track. In the Gas tracks its usually the kick drum that is ghostly and out of focus, but in the Intrusion records its the melody. I think to myself, if I just turn the volume up a little more, maybe I'll be where I want to be in relation to all of this. My brain wants to bring my favorite shy elements more into focus, but the track being much wiser than I always denies it. This subtlety in the mastering of the record is what keeps me coming back to the track for repeated listens. As I said, similar effects can be achieved by listening to Gas records, or another example would be Brock Van Wey - I Knew Happiness Once (Intrusion Shape V). This restraint during the mastering and mixdown process demonstrates complete control of the music and to me that puts releases like this one on the next level
