Kit
The most beautiful voice ever in the history of rock music. By far the best overview of Sandy's work, ever. Sound quality (on my LP version) is outstanding: clear, good separation, full sounding, clean. As with many boxes, this one throws in everything but the kitchen sink, including live tracks, unreleased demos, outstanding album cuts, and recordings from multiple groups. Sandy's solo albums are represented, as well as her best-known work, done with Fairport Convention. Also, Fotheringay, and The North Star Grassmen and the Ravens, and The Strawbs. The recording that millions of people around the world have heard than any other featuring Sandy's voice? "The Battle of Evermore," from Led Zeppelin's fourth album, aka ZOSO" where she duets with Robert Plant on the song right before the original studio version of "Stairway to Heaven."Most of the commercial releases featuring Sandy Denny are difficult to find, although easier in the internet world. It would cost a small fortune to purchase today all the albums from which this material is drawn, and one would still be missing some great songs that are only available in this box set. Also included is a 12"x12" 20-page booklet and an additional sheet with recording notes. Not sure how much of this made it into the CD release.
