My copy contains a small green booklet. Was this part of the release, or was it handed out to buyers at record stores, or something?

This is an extremely late comment, but anyone who says "I never really got Nirvana" doesn't have a clue about music. I can understand not liking them, but that comment shows the inability to see music objectively and in its context. She probably has Rumors listed as her top 3 greatest albums of all time.
Arcanefist
I like Nirvana, Raincoats and Fleetwood Mac, in or out if any "context" but my own. MV is my favourite Nirvana track, which may say something about my personal taste, or state of mind.Cobain didn't live long enough to rave about Jim Shepard / V-3, but if any Nirvana fans see this comment I'd recommend checking out the "Photograph Burns" album. Pretty sure they got signed on the back of the grunge boom (which they were not part of), and pretty sure he would have loved it.
Swiang
I have many "a clue" about music and I don't give a f*** to Nirvana (US) either. Be tolerant man.

Hi all, I recently picked up a copy of this as an LP but I can't seem to find my release anywhere.Initially I thought it was a first pressing - identical labels, same category number - but the etching in the run-off reads something different. On the A side it reads 'Construction and destruction of myths and melodies' and on the B side it reads 'Green is fab.'If anyone has any info on this please let me know - I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.
Jark
they might well be simultaneous pressings from different factories? from jenn pelly's 33 1/3 book 'the raincoats' (a great book!):"the original 'raincoats' pressing featured an inscription in the vinyl penned by [green] gartside. it read "the construction and deconstruction of myths and melodies" (in the flipside of the wax was scratched "green is fab," and other copies contained the phrases "doing one's mending by oneself" b/w "sew what?"). gartside elaborated on his text: "

Hey man, it was cool of you to reply. At least I know my copy isn't anything special/unique. Definitely an album worth having, for sure.
Dominator
I have the same copy! Based on the etching, it might be an early repress (3-A-2, 3-B-2) compared to (3-A-1, 3-A-1) which is listed already. Also, Porky chop is shortened to just that. I probably didn't provide anything new to you, and might have just repeated what you said. Great album!
Mora
I begin to wonder about that review.. "I never got Nirvana either"Carlja's easy judgments have a note of the mysterious

It's all a matter of taste. The Raincoats were a minimalistic avantgarde folk/art/punk band as were We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It or even the early Fall - some people have no access to their music, others find them essential. This record is simply great! Nowadays MIA is adored by many people. I see myself as a very open-minded music lover with interest in all genres, but I think she's just a waste of time, money and resources (as we Germans say: Verarschung).
Brialelis
Only all girl band that could compete with the big boys, classic albums.
Skilkancar
Probably the worst record in my collection bought unheard on the back of an NME review. Total utter cr*p, why it is popular is beyond my understanding. But then I never got Nivarna either. Take my advice don't waste your life listening to this. I'm listening to it now just to check and I hate as much as when I bought it.File under Greenham common peace hippies have a sing a long.
BORZOTA
Agreed. This album is so amateurish it makes their contemporary (rival?) Kleenex a.k.a. LiLiPUT sound like Beethoven. The Slits, on the other hand, to name a band in a similar vein, had some actual musicality and some memorable songs under the shambly image. And the Raincoats did indeed create a stunning masterpiece song, "Shouting Out Loud," on their next LP.
Visonima
Hey . . . . . . . Shut up
Kelezel
the perfection is boring. this is art. punk art, naivetè, neo-hippy sound. if picasso was a punk musician, he probably would have played with the raincoats.
Opimath
Well, I also bought this on the back of (probably) the same NME review. I found it charming and really got into the band. Much better than The Slits, in my opinion, who are often mentioned in the same breath. I also like Nirvana, though, so... Anyone wanting to take a punt, hurrah for the internet, because unlike back in 1993, you can listen to it online in various places and decide for yourself!
