James Teej's debut, EVENING HARVEST, starts off on the quiet, melancholy note of "B4 Spring" before the beats kick in and take the track up a notch. "Monaco Villa" has an irrepressible groove and the lyrics seem to fit with it well. "Late Blooming" delves a little deeper, and the organ of "Greenback" and "Left Believing" only increases that feel. "We Collide" and "Seven Day Mend," on the other hand, seems to go straight back to classic Chicago deep house, "The Rain Awaiting" sweeps in with a smoothly dark experience, and "Sicken" files down the rougher edges. "All We Have Is Time" slows things for a blues-inflected piece. A really auspicious debut.
