Like the original Twin Peaks TV-series soundtrack LP re-release, this reissue sounds warm without no surface noise. Warner bros/Rhino Records did a great job with these re-releases. Also, I'm loving the original artwork!
Ironfire
the record sounds great. very warm. i have no problems with it
Nagor
A lively sounding record ! Printed with care and love. Warm and brooding...
watchman
One of my favorite scores. Glad to see everyone agrees about the Mondo reissue. Love Twin Peaks, but the new season was a cash trap opportunity for sure.
Kelenn
That seems like a lot of music (57 minutes) to fit of a single lp...can anyone speak to the dynamics of this pressing? (OTOH, a lot of the tracks are ambient/strings, so maybe it fits well?
Delan
Sounds great. No surface noise, nice warm, clean, clear, roomy sound. Excellent.
Gavirus
Really impressed with this reissue. I haven't got an original pressing to compare but this has played for me brilliantly without a problem and it sounds lovely and quiet. Glad I waited for this instead of going for the other reissues with the rather ugly artwork.
GEL
Same here brother. Original artwork, black vinyl and good sound. No need to make the mess that Deathwaltz did.
TheSuspect
Like others have said, this is a lovely pressing. Death Waltz screwed their re-releases with those horrible new cover arts, but here you get the magnificent original artwork. Finally, the sound quality is superb, I have no complaints. This is how all re-releases should be made, no need for unnesseccary 2LP sets with edited or changed cover art. Big thumbs up and 5 stars out of 5 from me!
Karon
A lovely pressing, so much better than that Mondo/Death Waltz travesty. Even has the nice original artwork rather than that crappy black and white sleeve design where they even had one side the wrong way up :D Leave it the professionals in future Mondo!
Fek
While side one of my copy is pretty clean most of side two has clicks and pops up the wazoo. This is my second copy too as I had to return the first due to a blotch in the middle of side 2 that made the needle skip! What the hell's up with side two eh?! Anyway, after comparing this edition to the Death Waltz 2LP I'd have to say the latter is MUCH better sounding (better detail, soundstage etc), but this is to be expected when spreading it out over 2LPs. It's just a huge shame that Rainbo screwed up that pressing & it suffers from so much surface noise, not to mention slight warping on some discs as reported by many. Those that think this Rhino pressing is a perfect noise-free affair may be sorely disappointed. The second copy I got has a slight warp too but nothing too bad. I was really hoping this was gonna be the perfect alternative to the DW reissues but two lemons in a row ain't reassuring. Man, buying records these days has turned into a real drag.. quality control just seems to have gone out the window. So, anyone else had issues with clicks and pops on their copy or am I just incredibly unlucky?
ChallengeMine
You are not wrong: far too often, records made these days sound terrible. I own plenty of records bought used from the 80s that kick ass sound quality wise than most of the shit I buy today. Also: it's a massive myth that 180 g is better. People are so full of shit who believe this.I own a Belly record made in the 1990s. I bought it "used" from an Amazon marketplace seller, but it turned out to be "new" and sealed! It is flimsy as fuck......and sounds fucking fantastic! One of the best sounding records I own.Furthermore: I own way too many 180 gram records that came warped (?????)
Vobei
I'm just so excited they did a reissue with the original art, I was never into the new designs. Good to hear the sound is nice on this one.
GawelleN
Anyone having passages with clicks and noises with this press?
Yozshujind
yes i just picked a copy up and especially "syacamore trees" full of clicks
Drelahuginn
Yup, see my review above, side 2 is a mess. I was pretty surprised to be honest as going by all the positive reviews I thought this edition was gonna be dead quiet.
Andriodtargeted
nope! really clean pressing! at least 4 more words needed...
Jube
Without any other pressings to compare it to I have still noticed the pressing quality is amazing. It is clean, rich and detailed.
Vivaral
Perfect quality pressing !! Recommened ! If you like the music of it go for this... not deathwaltz
Hiylchis
Does this edition have liner notes written by Mark Kermode?
Deeroman
Thankfully not, Kermode always sounds like a dickhead, it would be horrible to hear him talking like a dickhead about Twin Peaks!
skyjettttt
Kermode liner notes are on the death waltz pressing I believe, packaging of this version is an exact reproduction of the original.
AnnyMars
Nope, I'm afraid not. Otherwise, it looks great, but not played it yet.
Hilarious Kangaroo
I received the 19th of May and I have to say it sounds really good, close to the original press of 1992. I agree with the other user: sounds better that the DeathWaltz version! Highly Suggested!!!
Zbr
Veeeery nice! I received my copy today and it sounds great. I'd recommend this over the DeathWaltz version. Yes, I know this is a rather long single LP and the DeathWaltz version is a double LP - the single LP still sounds better to me.
