OK, time for another Organgrinder filth-bomb.Both of these mixes are insane corkers, but I'll start with the original version. The track is fast and driving, and features those wonderful trademark Geezer bubbly acid lines. To my ears and brain, this is real punk-rock style acid techno, and it just gets more intense and deranged as it proceeds. At around 4:00, you get a long, dirty breakdown, replete with snarling Hoover-synths and some mechanical noises. Then the acid line starts to creep back in, and you might expect a massive, extended buildup and release. The thing is, you'd be wrong; the tune just roars to life again at 4:45 with little-to-no fanfare (just a quick, matter-of-fact vocal), and the effect is brilliant. What a stomping, marauding slice of acid techno genius. 5+/5.The "Kids on Drugs" mix takes the same track and filters it through an additional layer of filth, primarily in the form of a consistent, distorted synth that reminds me of the ebb and flow of an evil ocean (I know that's a bit abstract...). Fast and direct like the original, this is basically the dark gutter-punk version of "Buzz Saw." That is to say, if the original was an early Bad Religion song, this is the UK Subhumans cover (again, a bit abstract, but punk enthusiasts will understand). Top-drawer acid techno once again, though perhaps second-best on the record (at least for me). 5+/5.
