This album is one of the most harrowing sonic representations of pain and violence I have come across so far. It's a sparse collage of industrial rust, cold machinery, tears of despair, and the screams of the lonely and the tormented. The degree of bleakness on display here is almost surreal, and this symphony of torture was obviously assembled by someone who either had intimate and painful contact with suffering and loss, or at least has a pathological fascination for sickness and torment. It's not merely depraved, though. It's utterly cold and heartless, but you continuously sense the almost surgical precision and grim logic behind it's conception. This was made by highly intelligent people with a keen sense for the psychological mechanisms of fear and disgust. It's utterly suffocating and highly delicious musical torture porn.
