SiIеnt
Stanny Franssen doesn’t make any bones about the darkness of his album, PLAYING WITH THE BLOX; the moody electronics of “Data Flow” make it immediately clear, and the deep mid-tempo thumps of “Floating Positions” only emphasize the fact. The sci-fi ethos here is unmistakable: “Secret Intelligence” has an android-noir tone to it, and “Alphabet Drive” picks up the pace. There’s also an inherent toughness to these tracks—you wouldn’t want to meet these tracks in a dark alley by yourself. The title track tosses in a steady dance beat, but by the time we get to “Groove Tool,” an element of funk has begun to creep into the album, though “The Grid” and “Big Crash” are still plenty dark. The final track, “Phunkee,” goes totally tech-house direction, seemingly out of place, but it might be Franssen playing even more.

Great album, great review, couldn't have put it any better.
