'Come Play Perfect' is a musical work of art, a production that cannot simply be categorised and conveniently placed into one specific genre of electronic dance music. For Boom Jinx has synthesised a plethora of styles and influences on this production, with stunning results; a funky bassline underpins the track throughout, whilst brief 'surges' of bass regularly press firmly against the speaker walls, giving a ‘dense’ feel to the production. The complex layers of sound are supplemented by the irregular percolations of male vocals, washes of disco-tinged keys, psychedelic atmospheres and concise keyboard stabs. With its ambitious fusion of influences, it comes as no surprise then that ‘Come Play Perfect’ is fairly fluid in terms of its structure; the breakdown arrives almost by surprise, certainly before the listener expects it, and there is so much going on here that it requires several listens in order for you to become fully acquainted with all of the layers of sound present. Once you have become acquainted however, you will almost certainly be coming back for more time and time again.

Come Play Perfect is trippy prog house in the extreme, with an oddball breakdown which needs several listens for it to get firmly under your skin. Too Free To Follow uses the same formula with a very similar bassline. Doesn't have the trippy appeal of the A-side, and will most likely end up as a set filler at best. Has a nice melody though, which does score it some points.
