"keep on rolling" is based on Johnny Osbourne's track Mr Sea. One of my favorite reggae tunes ever. I understand the debate over edit records but regardless I think this Quiet Village album is great. My favorite track of theirs is Can't be Beat though which was left off the LP.

Pacific Rhythm = Sister Sledge - You're A Friend To Me Victoria's Secret = The Chi-Lites - The Coldest Days Of My Life Utopia = Andreas Vollenweider - Down To The Moon Neither the jacket for this release or the record itself makes mention of the above samples. And when I say samples, in some cases I mean the almost the entire track was lifted, strongest case in point being the Chi-Lites Re-edit. "Silent Movie" was released and promoted as an original album when it really should have been a bootleg white label. My disappointment with Quiet Village grows as I learn more about the original music was that reused here. Are there ANY original tracks on this album? This is not a review of the music itself. Just noting what needs to be noted since the credits above show Joel and Matt as the writers, which apparently is not the case. Until proven otherwise this nothing but a collection of re-edits.

actually pacific rhythm is ryuichi sakamoto covering you're a friend to me.

The track Free Rider is also a re-edit of Gianni Marchetti's "Part-y-time". It's pretty subtle and I had to listen to both in succession to spot the differences. You're right that it's an album of edits rather than original works. But I still enjoy it.

Man, why did you do this to me? :D I love this album, but now I can't stop thinking that all this songs were stolen or re-edited. Heh...

Quite Village begins with a soft track light instruments and arranged chords incredibly inviting and very spaceous .... this first track side A reminds me very much of a movie that i just cannot place and takes me back to the beach or oceans with waves crashing in to the sounds of nature around the music fantastic production work flowing into track 2 a soft rock track with the soft rock riff "DJ Harvey" inspired these soft rock cords with disco sounding strings taking on a new dimension and shape for rock music - A heavy rock based funk track taking you someplace else the next track inspired ambient sound resembling deep rain forest type sounds are awe inspiring and guitar riffs flowing into african type rhythms is beautiful. Broken promises i think is probably the pinnacle of this lp for me strings chords sounds arranged in the style of greats suck as bacharat phenominla if your are a serious collecter i would say this is top shelp stuff and great listening chill out music
