I was going to post a review of this years ago saying how it's the most overlooked breakbeat hardcore record I know. I've never heard it in a mix and it wasn't even on Youtube. Well, someone went and put it on Youtube and it's even been featured on a blog but it's still a cracking piece of wax."Thrive" has a huge piano riff, dreamy high-pitched melody and fat breaks - all that nice stuff. But I prefer "Optical Illusion" on the b-side. It's a bit faster, darker and more jungalistic in general.The only strike against this 12" is the sample from Kariya's "Let Me Love You For Tonight" on "Dubtical Illusion". As much as I love the original, I'm sick of hearing it sampled and it never quite works for me. I guess if I'm picking nits, the bass on the a-side is muddy. Anyway, top flight hardcore here.
