What would a holiday be without novelty songs? Saint Etienne throws their Santa hats into the ring with I WAS BORN ON CHRISTMAS DAY, a danceable confection, with help from the lead singer of the Charlatans. Put down those glowsticks and pick up a candy cane! "My Christmas Prayer" is a comedown song after the euphoric present-opening, but "Snowplough" gets things going again. "Peterloo" ends the EP with strings and then a tape on reverse feeds. I can't wait to hear carolers try to tackle that one.
