Lousy sound from vinyl. Just get a vinyl copy, it will sound much better.

Note that subsequent single "Jam Up And Jelly Tight"'s b-side features a post-moon landing version of "Moon Talk" with updated lyrics. It is of course inferior, but bubblegummier.

Does anyone the sound quality of this LP? The digital version and the CD version does not sound all that great (almost as if they got it from a not-so-great Mono vinyl copy - lots of noise in the left and right channels among the Mono recording). Also, is it the Stereo version or Mono version?

One of the best albums ever recorded (my 2nd favorite of album his - "Sweet Pea" was my favorite album he made and my favorite album all together)!Although it's nice to have a commercial CD copy of this album, the audio quality is not HQ. This CD used the Mono edition of the album, which can easily be pinpointed out: the Stereo version "Moon Talk" has an overdub at the beginning that is recorded backwards. It is as if they used a bootleg tape of the Mono version or a slightly warn out unclean Mono vinyl copy and "remastered" it. The copy I have claims that it was "remastered." By the sound, either the engineers were complete idiots or they lied. And I'm pretty sure they lied. The bass is up TOO high in certain songs and some songs sound muddy. I played this back in a 2 different professional audio programs, and they both play back in Stereo... but main audio is in Mono. I used a Stereo spectrograph that shows what is being panned into the left and right channels. The results were as I suspected: the "Stereo" audio appears to be a lot of noise - when everything else is muted out of the center you can hear it. It also sounds like they had a bad connection or static from the recording source; example if you kept the center muted, you could hear a part of the music itself, like a FM radio that wasn't tuned all the way on the dial to a station you wanted hear. Even without doing all of that, you can definitely hear the "bad" audio with even a normal CD player. Trust me, it isn't the best. I could spend all day telling you about the audio quality of this CD, but if you just want it to hear once again or if you want a hard copy quick and easily, I say go for it.But as an audiophile and an audio engineer, I prefer to listen to HD audio. For people like me who care about audio, I highly recommend that you get a good Stereo LP copy (or the Mono LP copy - I prefer the Stereo version better) of this album, record it with the audio software you like, clean it up, save it to WAV, and then put it on a CD. It's sad to see a great album like this in this condition. Maybe some day this will be re-released in HD Stereo on CD or HD Mono on CD (preferably both). This album deserves it, because it did not deserve to be released in this condition. Music and Album 10/10 - Case and CD 8/10 - Audio Quality 5/10

The Curt Boettcher production turns these sunny tunes into high art.
Ricep
shockingly good record with huge curt boettcher vocal arrangements and a very decent studio-psych angle to many of the tracks.
