Horrible pressing!!! I am listening to mine for the second time since owning it for a year.Pops and clicks throughout. Sound is not dynamic and very flat.An otherwise awesome album rendered almost useless... Getting rid of my copy in search of an original.
JUST DO IT
So I've never loved how much music they are cramming onto one disc for every reissue of this album that's been done, but I finally bit the bullet and gave this one a shot because I love this album, and you know what? Not bad at all. My only complaint is that the overall levels are low, but that's just a given with this much music on each side. No vocal distortion to speak of at all, and my copy has very little surface noise. I'm happy to recommend this version as a cheap play copy that works perfectly for a late night chill, where you weren't going to blast anything anyway.

They could have done a better job pressing this one.Mine is warped and has random crackles and pops. Low recording level. Not impressed with this reissue.

Just purchased this version (new) from a reputable local independent store. Sound is full but there is a lot of surface noise on some tracks. At least, it's really noticeable on some tracks compared to others where it's detectable.

My experience with this title are identical. Doesn't appear a lot of care was taken when pressing this. Shame for a classic album such as this.
Biaemi
I purchased this version today. It says "welcome to 1979" like you mentioned. So that is a older repress? The sound is quite good, you just have to turn up the volume a bit which isn't a bad thing.

sidewinder03 Just purchased this version (new) from a reputable local independent store. Sound is full but there is a lot of surface noise on some tracks. At least, it's really noticeable on some tracks compared to others where it's detectable. Are you sure you bought this version? It's an older repress with "Welcome to 1979" in the deadwax. As far as I know the more recent represses have DMM in the runouts on both sides. Please confirm. Thanks in advance!
