What's their relation to Psychic TV and such? I was expecting Gen to be a part of this.

2 different types/pressing of LP covers exist. The one shown on discogs with background image features TOPY info/address. A later version is black without the image and no TOPY info. The latter also contains a vinyl with green labels.

Are there UPC codes or anything that differentiates them? This might warrant a release entry.

The Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia's OV BIOSPHERES AND SACRED GROOVES is a classic album -- dark and mysterious, it was one of the first to introduce 'tribal' elements to techno, though "The Challenge (Part One)" is all about the atmospheric groove. But those tribal rhythms make themselves known on "Linkage" and extend somewhat into the melancholic "The Tides (They Turn)." A more delicate melody takes the center of "Obsidian," though that track remains grounded by its steady bass. The spooky "Anathema Ov Jean Jacques Derrillard" shows the dark industrial-ambient side of the Warriors, whereas "The Challenge (Part Two)" is almost jaunty by comparison. "New Edge Mantra" ends the album on an ambient note, though the US version includes the deep, funky -- and then ambient -- Drum Club remix of "Exit 23." An essential listen.

Master piece!I first heard this music on a recorded tape I had from Amsterdam in early 90's and I thought it was an obscure dj ambient mix. When a friend on mine played one day at his home this cd I couldn't believe my ears! Then I discovered PWOG and Exquisite Corpes...I think their music really stands appart and doesn't deserve to be so underated. On this one, B side, The Challenge and the Key version are so beautifull !

I've consumed my vinyl listening to it over ond over for so many years: pure magic !

I've been going back through some of my archives lately and hooked back into PWOG's Biospheres again, what a great album this really is. I remember tracing a thread on the ambient email list in the mid nineties where some guy was relating how he had listened to this disc without any knowledge of the ambient music scene (this was still possible in the early nineties, remember). What was so interesting about the story was that this was also in the context of being out in the back woods, somewhere in mountains in north America. Apparently the tribal rhythms and deep vibe had really created an incredible atmosphere. I love stories like that. The music here is deep and 'tribal' and without managing to be at all 'new age'. What we get here are long ambient workouts punctuated with rhythmic, deep and organic house. To my mind this is a rare example of an electronic music album that is of its time (the wonderful emergence of the ambient scene in the early post rave 90s) and yet which transcends this period to remain sometime worth grasping in the current period. For the impatient among you flick to the wonderful track two and wave your hands in the air like a mad thing, in the front room and on high volume when everyone else is out of the house.

This album to me is a timeless classic.

It's a surprisingly solid record. You'll won't be bored or feel like you're listening to new age music, which is what i half expected to hear given their new age music band name. I'll admit some of the ambient drum circle music is litte silly, but the beat-based material that bookends those ambient parts is really well done. It succeeds in becoming greater than the sum of its parts. If you like this listen to children of the bong, which is another awesome band with a slightly embarassing name that you don't really want to say out loud to someone who asks, "hey, this is really good music. who is it?" I think i'll try writing it down on a piece of paper and handing it to the person if that ever happens.

Obsidian is the centerpiece. Plinky-plonky techno requires the listener to do his own mixing and up the bass. There are other parts enjoyable, but difficult to forage through because the disc is segued together in tracks 1 & 3. Truly tribal and believing in mother earth.
