Notes

As an incarnation of eXquisite CORpsE, Debbie Jones and Robbert Heijnen recorded 13 tracks that were meant to be released by a Dutch label back in 1996. This never happened. Now, the original unaltered recordings are made available in a Digipak packaging with new artwork.

The original kings of tribal/ambient-techno, Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia, who released classics: Ov Biospheres And Sacred Grooves, and Record Without Breaks albums, Obsidian EP, 3trk Peel Sessions EP, Also the group who impressed both The Orb and Orbital (check PWOG remix of Lush)... Xcor were also once part of PWOG before splitting and then forming Exquisite Corpse(aka Xcor).Xcor 'Evolution' is a unique advancement in ambient-tribal-techno-house experimental music, previously associated with the likes of: PWOG, R.H.Kirk, Horizon 222, Exquisite Corpse, and Lumukanda,. Xcor's 'Evoltuion' album still sounds refreshing and dam-good even today (2010), even though originally recorded way back in 1996!. Thanks to Sonic-Soul label you can now finally get to hear this unique album of tribal-ambient and techno - different back then, and different still now. The album still retains a familiarity sound associated with previous Pwog & Exqusite Corpse/Xcor releases (esp 'Inner Light' album). 'Evolution' fuses both ambient with mysterious like atmospheres, plus grooves across deep and moody techno/house with its hypnotic trance like vibe. Rhythms and ambient are composed with dark edgy elements using punctuated tribal beats, sequenced organic like techno/house rhythms, and interesting tribal sample effects - which are all cleverly looped and manipulated creating an incredible tribal/modern-tech atmosphere which can be groovy, experimental, surreal and very mysterious - but always sonically absorbing on the senses. The albums layers across music and ambient are further transcended into deeper spheres by the phasing and excellent use its hypnotizing spiritual female voice samples that simply catch your attention as they surface from the cool sinister tribal beats and techno-house rhythms, plus the albums atmospheric ambient. 'Evolution' with its variations still manage to work together on all levels creating a great experience both for the home listener or the DJ looking for darker mysterious grooves for those early twilight hours. As a album 'Evolution' is a wonderful unique breed of tribal techno-house and ambient that will take the ears, brain, and soul on a journey into the unknown! and then leaving you there in a state of mystery. This is music that exposes the listener to the dark edges of captivating grooves and ambient that has to be experienced to be appreciated, esp when not many artist create this unique sound across sinister moods and grooves. This album was also a tribute to Debbie, one half of Exquisite Corpse/Xcor, who sadly passed away in 2005.
