I bought this recently very concerned that it’s going to be a disaster, because of all the crappy reviews I read about this re-dux edition. I’m not happy that I’ll actually have to buy Johnny Yesno original soundtrack ASAP, but to be honest only ‘Yashar Redacted’ video on second DVD is worth buying this, plus CDs with “music mixes” are totally cool!Thank you Richard H. Kirk

Having read in a few sites that the Redux remixes were not very good or interesting, I bought it just for completism, just to find that they actually are, in my opinion, quite good mixes!!. Maybe the re-mixing and adding of tracks that were not originally from the Johnny Yesno soundtrack is something that doesn't make much sense, although they are good mixes anyway. A single CD with remixes of Johnny Yesno-only tracks would have been the logical choice, instead of two. A great release, although I'm very surprised to find a lot of distortion caused by peaks in some songs. At first I thought it could be intentional, but I'm afraid it must be just a case of poor mixing/mastering. I downloaded the tracks from Soulseek just to check if it was just my copy sounding like that, and confirmed they sound the same....

The soundtrack which CV did for this movie is good, not their best but ok. Dense, atmospheric and smoke-filled late-night muzak. Then I saw this release and bought it, just to see what the hype was around this Johnny Yesno movie. It's the kind of experamental derek jarman'ish shortfilm, dreamy and hazy. It's about a guy in a sort of timeless era (60s I think) doing drugs and messing about, interesting experamental shortfilm but nothing to make you scream. Now, this version includes the socalled redux versions. First of all, the redux soundtrack is TERRIBLE!!!.. Being a HUGE fan of CV (inluding their more 80s pop' ish stuff) this piece of 90s house/techno/dance sound completly destroys the soundtrack!!!. I´could imagine Chris Watson listening to this and think, my god Richard Kirk.. What have you done?!... The redux film is crap aswell, could have been made by some kids, I was actualy embarresed showing this to my girlfriend because it was sooo completly tasteless! Tastefilm redux movie and tasteless redux soundtrack, do yourself a favor and just boy the old soundtrack and nothing more.
