This very cheaply packaged series was a sort of precursor to the Rubble series, collecting '60s beat from UK bands. It was also a kind of sister series to the Mindrocker albums that Line also put out in the '80s.Whereas Mindrocker have been reissued and repackaged on vinyl and as a CD box set, Broken Dreams hasn't been granted the same amount of interest (apart from some sporadic vinyl reissues on Impact, also in the '80s).This first volume is full of good stuff. It's probably the best of the series, which, as it went on, seemed to slide into more mediocre sub-blues and beat, rather than concentrating on psychedelia. You can still get them very cheaply and they do work as a kind of alternative history of mid-late 60s UK rock.
