[I thought a lot of these picture discs were 10,000, whatever they feel they can sell in the current market. I don't necessarily trust them either. Who and what is there to limit them?]Yes, I do play my picture discs and some of them play well. However, picture disc is not the right platform for such a sonically pure version as Sonjay Prabhakar's remix of Sound and Vision. Some will be buying this picture disc to listen to: because it is the ONLY tangible way of purchasing Sonjay Prabhakar's remix, unless you pay more for the promo CD edition. I think it wasn't intended to be released to the public as it was only produced for advertising purposes and as a result is very short (1:50), there is a repetitive longer version. That said the experiment paid off reducing the song to Bowie's voice, Hopkin's voice and the piano works beautifully. I have to say, for this song, I wouldn't want to hear it on a picture disc. Nor do I want to hang it on the wall (though the Man Who Fell to Earth image is classic, so maybe I should reconsider - perhaps it's better than a photo . . . ).The below is taken straight from the davidbowienews www:"Reworked from the original tapes by Sonjay Prabhakar for Sony’s Xperia™ Z smartphone advertising campaign. Sound and Vision 2013 is a beautifully haunting reimagining of the song, re-worked from the original stems by remixer Sonjay Prabhakar. By stripping away much of the original instrumentation to just leave Roy Young’s plaintive piano, Mary Hopkin’s backing vocal and the lead vocal, the song takes on a new reflective resonance."

Cover is damaged . . . . . . . .

Does anyone know what 'limited edition' actually means with these 40th anniversary releases?
Nirad
It's impossible to release an infinite number of copies, so they state "limited".
Mozel
It means limited to 3.000 or 4000 copies only. Just that.
BORZOTA
I saw a particular store advertised this as limited to 4000 copies. Haven't seen other confirmation of that though, or whether that's just the amount allocated for the US.

Does this sound absolutely dreadful to anyone else? Side A's not so bad (a bit flat), but side AA's practically unlistenable. Loads of buzz and distortion. Like a badly compressed MP3 playing off someones phone.
Bludsong
Do you really buy a picture disc to listen to it? Not me. Display only. P/C are notorious for bad sound.
HelloBoB:D
totally agree! was worried it was my system. squelching all over the place. awful awful pressing
Hbr
as has been the case with many of these discs, yes, this one sounds dire. the only reason to buy is "for the collection" or for future resale (thus best left sealed).
Nidor
Well it's another version so it deserves a discogs entry and, if the pressing is bad then it should affect sales!
komandante
That's very interesting @vova676. What are the matrix differences then?
kolos
Yep agree that the remix is disappointing quality; does sound like a low generation master was used. Pity.
Brightfury
May keep mine sealed then and enhance the value for a few years.
Natety
I'd heard that, but this is bad. Thanks for the reply.
Tisicai
It's a picture disc - they aren't known for their sonic excellence. Thinner plastic = more compressed sound.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but there appears to be a typo on the picture sleeve. At the bottom on the back it says [Foto ported de "THE MAN WHO FELL TO HEARTH" a Cinema 5 release] spelled Hearth instead of Earth

There is also a Canadian pressing of this, orange RCA Victor label, I used to own it.
