It would be great if Sony reissued Miles from 1981 to 1985, the comeback years, as a remastered boxset with any extras they may have and extensive sleevenotes. So what we need is "The Man With The Horn", "We Want Miles", "Star People", "Decoy" "You're Under Arrest", and "Aura". While it's my least listened to period on Columbia a revisit would do it justice. They may as well do it sooner than later! The music from the final years with Columbia has dated more than the stuff from the 50, 60s and 70s and is far less engaging or essential but as a fan and Davis obsessive I feel, to steal a title from the Prince of Darkness, "It's About That Time"!!!

Miles Davis' first comeback record finds the trumpeter a bit shaky (he would improve album by album during the next few years) and has a few poppish throwaway tracks; it is doubtful if anyone really remembers the title cut or "Shout." But with Bill Evans on soprano and electric bassist Marcus Miller, the other four selections are more rewarding with Davis forming the nucleus of his new band. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide.
