Freefall Featuring Jan Johnston - Skydive mp3 album

Comparing this German Promo release to the UK Retail release (Stress Records CD STR 89) I found that all tracks apart from track 3 (which doesn't appear on the UK CD) are brickwalled. I could not believe the difference just listening to them side by side and viewing the waveforms and spectrograms. For instance the original mix on this 4 track CD has way too much treble and viewing the spectrogram shows the upper frequencies are merged with noise (my personal opinion) where the same track on the UK CD has none of this whatsoever yet is still very much the same (neither have lossy mp3 type cut-offs) apart from the mid frequencies in the UK CD are not as loud. So if you like dynamic range in your music don't bother at all with the German promo (and most likely the non-promo too) as it will hurt your ears! The UK Renaissance CD is also in my collection but I have yet to examine those tracks.

Anthony Pappa gave some insight into the making of Skydive - "Firstly it was a remix for Hooj Choons of a track called Miro - Paradise then Hooj Choons rejected it so we changed the vocal and a few things to make the track our own. Then we had it all finished and ready to mix down. It was a Friday. We decided to leave it over the weekend and come in Monday morning with fresh ears to mix down and then over the weekend the studio was broken into and equipment was stolen. We were devastated so we had to replace the stolen equipment and remember the track as it was, re create it and then mix it down. So many obstacles but we got there in the end."

Does anyone sell this CD? I want it so bad!!

The Mara Edit! Played by Paul Oakenfold at Space, Ibiza during an unforgettable set was the first time I heard this tune. Still gives me the rushes up my spine.

The original is phenomenal, but the Mara mix takes the cake for me.
