This record is part of Chicago Hip hop history.Straight out of the projects, Sugar Ray Dinke had a beat box, humor in his raps and was one of the best competitors for money prizes in that era. He used to compete often against Casper-William C (who put out the Cha - Cha Slide many years later) and his partner Sweet D, Doctor Groove and Vichelle(Sneak Attack was too young to get into the clubs at that time)and Top Dawg (the most awesome brain stormer of that era). Dinke often did hilarious skits on stage and cracked original jokes and gave Bernie Mack a run for his money many nights. June Moon backed Dinke's effort on I Am records. I have one of the originals and will take a picture one day and get it to discogs. My name is Doctor Groove. I cut the first rap record by a native Chicagoan in 1981-2 (Dec) with Captain Skyy called "Super Rock Body Shock". At that time I idolized Bootsy Collins and Parliment Funkadelic so I attempted to rap in a P-funk type style. Caspar's Groovy Ghost Show(1980) was the first rap put out from a dj/rap artist in Chicago but he originally came from New York and set up camp in Chicago, playing at the Happy Medium- Tom Joyner was with WJPC in Chicago and originally backed him up financially. Caspar and Doctor Groove were the only two rapping and mixing Dj's in that era.
