Notes

Blue Calx taken from Rephlex/Art2cd
℗Warp 1994 ©Warp 1994

This is the "limited" (10,000 copies) brown vinyl edition. The black vinyl edition is considered to be pressed in a much smaller quantity.
Front photograph is black & white and the gatefold sleeve has a numbered sticker.
Comes with a paper insert and a small sheet of four stickers.

Track D1 was previously released under the name Blue Calx.
Track E2 is not found on the CD versions of this album, but is also included on the black vinyl edition and on the cassette edition of Selected Ambient Works II.

At least some pressings have an off-centred centrehole on disc 3, E/F, that sways the tonearm during playback. This is especially exacerbated on the inner tracks of both sides, E4 & F4, where the music gets heavily distorted.

godlike
Does anyone know why the colors of the rims/lines on the labels don't match the colors on the back cover/inside gatefold? There seem to be two sets of red instead of a set of red and a set of orange.

I'm hoping for a genuine repress too. Maybe for RSD or so, i'd love it if they made a black and also a brown-pressing on the side. I'd pay for it, but 54,95€ for the 1972-repress is astonishingly high noting it's low quality. So, Warp; repress this and Drukqs and we're set.

Praying that one day Warp represses this beauty, hopefully from either the master DAT or the master stampers. A 3xCD release with (Stone In Focus) would be great too.
Sharpbinder
good ambient.
Wishamac
Great album; dismal pressing. Warp should have put out a high quality quiet pressing of this immediately in 1994. ~*~

I've heard that the black vinyl sounds much, much better. Unfortunately, it's also much, much rarer.

when wil be repress in warp who know?

I had purchased this album through a track i'd heard on Solid Steel back in 1994 (called 'Rhubarb')....An emotionally simple track which transcends the mind to an almost spiritual being. Like the other reviewers, i agree the album was a tad hard to listen to in parts back in 94..but now I really feel this LP/CD.This was a time when ambience was at it's height & Aphex hit the right notes, but sadly the album wasn't well received then. But now it has a deserved place in the classics.I had purchased both CD & coloured Vinyl, because the vinyl had a track that's not featured on the CD...Anyway,an emotional, mindbending rollercoaster...call it your'Being Aphex Twin' to your 'Malkovich' of music!!!

Nice colored vinyl beautiful quiet listening experience with an absolute crap pressing!! Warps vinyl was a bit dodgy in quality about this time. Noisy pressings and the like. great record for those isolationist moments we all have.

Yes, I've read an interview in which Richard says that he has learned to produce while he is sleeping in the studio (!). So it was possible for him to record this great sounds he's dreaming at the moment before forgetting it when he wakes up again. I don't know how that works, but this excellent album is surely a proof for it. Listening sounds and melodies for your unconsciousness. Superb. But I don't understand really why there is a brown coloured picture of the cover on this site. I have one (no. 2479/10000) with a grey one. Are there different out there of it?

The black vinyl version (which is rarer) had a coloured cover

Another groundbreaking album from Aphex. Bought it when it came out (have the limited brown coloured vinyl which comes with four aphex twin stickers) and listened to it all the way through completely astounded at what I was hearing. If you could record the soundtrack to your dreams when you're asleep then this would probably be the result.
Soustil
actually the album was inspired by dreams, so that's exactly what this is.
