For all the fair negatives, I'll give some (shallow) positives- from the era we are talking about, the pure magic of the birth of NY disco before it went spandex, this may not be the most directional & urgent cut. That said, Queens Constance is a name which symbolically captures the sound, the colours and the taste of the NY nostalgia perfectly. This track repeats it, naively, over and over, in the said poorly pressed quality. For me that just makes it immortal & f**ing beautiful. Flawed, not perfect, quaint & hard to obtain. Makes me think of ice/roller rink skating as a child in the late 70's. I'll take Patty Duke over this if I had to make a choice, but I wouldn't call it a weak record. Just not a dance floor bomb.

Monotonous, conga/bongo-driven schlock. Basically, the thing from start to finish. It sounds like a raw, poorly recorded rhythm track with a local high school talent show winner singing weak vocals. There is much better material from this period from this production team and the disco genre in general. Rarity/availability does not equal musical quality. There is a good reason why this record did not make it back then :-)

Very, very wrong Kase! I have the money and the connections to get my hands on any record I want in top condition. I do not want this one. If you like this QC release and are willing to pay high prices for it, then by all means go ahead and buy as many copies as you want.

To tell you the truth John, most of Patrick's productions from this era sound like pure crap. I have no idea why so many people pay big bucks for these.

Some, if not all copies of this exceedingly rare 12" have different volume levels to each of the two channels, indicating a flaw in the recording process. The dominant channel is that of the drum beat, while from the other channel, the occasional vocals ('clap your hands') and other instrumentation are, while significantly lower in volume, not totally inaudible. A tragic flaw that a true collector must live with. Both sides, which are the same version, have the identical flaw, so no saving grace through playing the flip side. This commentator is not aware if the misprinted version of this record listed in Discogs carries the same recording defect. Further comments are appreciated.

Ahh! Thanks alot! :-)

The DJ Spinna version is a re-edit. It's actually easy enough to fix it up a little when you record it. The right channel is the channel that's flawed. If you record the left channel only then go back and copy and paste what you've recorded onto the right channel the track sounds pretty clean.
Wel
DJ Spinna has put "Queen Constance Theme" on his latest compilation and it sounds flawless. Do you know, which 12" he's probably used? And yeah, the latest 404 EP on ebay a few days ago also had this audio problems... really too bad!

the EP version has the same audio flaws alright, as do catalog numbers 402 & 403 but not to the same extent as Queen Constance Theme......adds character to the tracks IMO :)
