It's so easy
Fantastic progressive rock band from Sweden. This album would appeal to anyone who enjoys Yes, Greenslade, Camel, etc. The guitarist is very skilled, and has a sound similar to Steve Howe at times. They use piano and mellotron to a great effect also. The rhythm section is outstanding. The bass player is hard not to notice, as he seems to continuously challenge the lead guitar, and sounds a bit like Chris Squire...nice Rickenbacker 4003 wah wah sounding bass lines on these studio recordings, though from what photos and video footage I've seen of this band he appears to playing a Fender Jazz bass on those occasions. The drummer is quite impressive as well. I wish I understood Swedish, because the vocalist really has a great prog deliverance, in the same vein as Peter Farrelly of "Fruup"...though some may find these vocal styles a tad annoying. Still a pleasure to listen to for me, even though I'll probably never know what he's singing about. The Bands name translated into English means,"Thirty Years War".I've owned and thoroughly enjoyed the first two Trettioåriga Kriget LP's since first hearing of them back in the mid-late 70's sometime. Of the two, I prefer this just slightly over the second release. I've never really cared for any of this bands late 70s/early 80s albums.I've added my Trettioåriga Kriget video on the release page here at Discogs. It features two songs from this LP (their debut album), and one song from the second album. For imagery, I've used various photos & scans of my LP covers/jackets and labels.
