Notes
All songs © 2014 except track 8.This artwork was found by Jenny at her father's store in Guelph - "Dis-A-Ray Antiques." It had a sticker on it that said "Mission Art Quebec."
Bird City is a project by Jenny Mitchell. This is a collection of assorted recordings that span roughly 13 years of secret songwriting. The first eight songs have not yet been released - some might be on a future record, some have been mostly abandoned. The last eight songs are in the heart of Bird City, and fell under three different previous projects: Jenny Omnichord, Crime Traveler and the Barmitzvah Brothers.
Track 1: recorded by Jenny at home August 2014.
Track 2: recorded in downtown Guelph as part of the 'Golden Community Music' project, July 2014.
Track 3: recorded at the CottaGe in Guelph, May 2014.
Track 4: recorded and performed by Jenny and Andy Magoffin as a demo at the House Of Miracles in Cambridge January 2014.
Track 5: recorded at the CottaGe in Guelph, May 2014. This song is one of Jenny's earliest songs, written sometime around 2001.
Track 6: recorded at "Kucharepartment" in Toronto in 2003 (I think).
Track 7: recorded at the House of Miracles in London in 2005. First appeared on a 6-song EP titled "Jenny Mitchell: Songs from Bird City" which Jenny released only a few copies of for a show opening for Scott Merritt.
Track 8: a cover song recorded as part of a series of demos in the winter of 2013 - original song by Otis Redding.
Track 9: first appeared on a Jenny Omnichord EP called "Pregnancy'P" in the summer 2008. Was released again on "Days of Hard Drives" March of 2013.
Tracks 10 & 11 were recorded at the House of Miracles in London Ontario in 2006 (I think) as part of Andy (Magoffin) and Jenny's brief duo-project called "Crime Traveler." The Crime Traveler recordings were never released.
Tracks 12 to 16 were recorded at the House of Miracles in London Ontario in 2007. They were all released on an album by the Barvitzvah Brothers titled "Let's Express Our Motives: An Album of Under-appreciated Job songs."
Packaged in a hand-assembled folded paper sleeve.
