I am the original owner of Stanal Records and the recording engineer for this album recorded in the 1964. I originally worked in the Sun Valley from 1958 to 1961 when the resort was owned by Union Pacific Railroad. I started my audio career in those days, went back to Nebraska to college, started Stanal Recordings Inc. doing custom recording. This album was recorded as a souvenir of Sun Valley and had limited distribution. It was music that I loved and remember fondly emanating form the Duchin Room as I worked as a night desk clerk at the Sun Valley Lodge front desk in the late 50's. The live recording was pieced together on two track 1/4 inch tape with minimal microphones from a couple of nights of recording and one afternoon day session. I have continued my audio career to this day, moving from recording to live concert engineer. My career has taken me around the world with major artists. This last summer (2012) I celebrated the 40th anniversary of Neil Diamond's legendary 'Hot August Night' concerts at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles as live concert engineer. While today, I reside in Big Bear Lake California, own the Knickerbocker Mansion and still do live concert tours with Neil Diamond, my heart is in Sun Valley and skips a beat when I hear this album. By the way Hap Miller was not a relative even though we have the same last name. Warren was another Miller hanging around Sun Valley in those days making his ski films. Stan:I was wondering if, by chance, you knew a Jerry Mintun who also lived in the area and played the drums for Hap Miller during the late 1950s and early- to mid-1960s? He may have also occasionally sat in with the Sun Valley Steel Band (playing drums or the horn). Jerry was born in 1940 and graduated high school (Hailey High) in 1959. He passed away in 2004 and is buried in Hailey, ID.Thanks, and Go Big Red! (I grew up in Omaha)Tom S.Texas

Signed, Stan Miller Feb 23, 2013 Hi Stan, I just happened on this post about the Hap Miller Sun Valley Orchestra. Thanks for the information about the recording. I live in Omaha and collect local records, posters, etc. I've found reference to a few other recordings on your Stanal label, particularly the Crusaders. Do you have a discography or just a list you can remember of the other recordings you released that I can reference? Thanks, Peter in Omaha
