As one of my all-time favourite weirdo Giallo movies, and with a wonderful / bizarre score by Ennio Morricone and Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, I'd long wanted to to track down the soundtrack album. Yet when I did I was extremely disappointed. My first thoughts "Huh, where's the music from the film? This doesn't resemble it at all". Okay, there are some little snippets. Since then I've located 3 further versions of Un Tranquillo Posto Di Campagna / A Quiet Place In The Country "soundtrack". All have virtually the same material, some with different titles and in a different order. None are the real soundtrack to the film. Of the original LP, only 3 little sections are used in the film. Most of the actual soundtrack is culled from that long piece "Un Tranquillo Posto Di Campagna (Suite)" featured on some recent reissues, the section 8:00 to 16:00.By the way, I have the Italian subtitled version of the film. Maybe there's an English dubbed version with this album as the soundtrack? If so, it won't be anywhere near so edgy a film. For what it's worth, this seems to be a case of a brilliant film score actually being made up from very little music. Like with Chi l'ha vista morire? aka Who Saw Her Die? scored by Morricone, 90% of the film soundtrack is culled from just one piece on the album.Ah, well - you live and learn, as they say!
